摘要

The motion of drops on fibers is important to industrial applications such as drop coalescence and drainage in fibrous filter media.This paper reports on experimental results using a Couette flow experimental device to measure drop velocities on fibers resulting from gas flow parallel to the fiber axis.A drag coefficient was defined and correlated to the data.Acoustic vibrations from a speaker were used to initiate drop motion.A second correlation was fitted to the data to predict the fraction of the drops that move in a given flow field.
