A decade at the helm of Cardiovascular Research, the basic science flagship of the ESC

With this editorial, the present editorial team of Cardiovascular Research (Figure 1) will say farewell to all authors, reviewers, and readers of the journal and thank them all for their support. We will hand over the journal to the new editor-in-chief, Karin Sipido, and her new team by the end of 2012. We wish them success and the continuing support of the scientific community. The present editorial team has served for a full decade, starting on 1 January 2003. We made ~18 000 decisions on manuscript submissions and were supported by ~40 000 sets of reviewer comments throughout these years. For the editors, it has been a very exciting and rewarding time, both in terms of their own scientific learning and the many interesting personal contacts they made.
