Consultative Hematology: Introduction

Hematologists-Oncologists in the United States spend the majority of their time treating malignancies and see patients with nonmalig-nant hematologic disorders on a less frequent basis. Colleagues requesting consultations expect prompt and thoughtful attention from hematologists. The questions asked are frequently challenging and require mastery of a broad knowledge base.
