Introduction

The purpose of this issue of Sejninars in Oncology Nursing is to examine the range of prostate cancer concerns using the lens of the Cancer Control Continuum.3 The Cancer Control Continuum identifies six phases of the cancer control experience, from prevention to the end of life. This issue will explore a range of topics salient to men and their loved ones diagnosed and living with prostate cancer.In the overview article, Dunn and Kazer review disease staging and grading, risk factors, and discuss signs and symptoms of prostate cancer. Prevention, the first phase of the Cancer Control Continuum, is discussed in relation to diet and lifestyle modifications. Treatment options are reviewed in the context of current evidence-based guidelines. The article concludes with a vision of the future of prostate cancer treatment.
