Perkins can now harvest, mix and pack 150 pounds of salad greens in about an hour with two people. Before the Drangen, it often took a crew of eight workers three to four hours to do the same job. Perkins and his wife Barbara are co-owners of Vermont Valley Community Farm, a CSA (community supported agriculture) farm located near Black Earth, Wis. Perkins heads up the operation's vegetable business while Joe Schmitt runs the flower business. Each has purchased the unusual looking, yet practical machine called the Drangen, a Swedish-made work cart mounted on a motorized crawler.
