SECRETARIAT REPORT

The 15~(th) meeting of the Statistical Committee was held at the BlueScope Steel Office in Sydney, Australia on 5 June 2007. Nine of the ten member countries were represented at the meeting. The Secretariat was represented by Mr. Jati Santiono, Senior Technical Manager and Mr. Wong Wah Sum, Head of Resource Centre. Other than the main business of discussing the compilation of data for the 2007 Steel Statistical Yearbook, the members also deliberated on a proposal put forward by the Secretariat regarding the forecasting of steel demand in the region. Thus far, the member countries have been focusing on the collection of yearly data on steel demand and supply which are no doubt useful for various purposes.
