US trade group quietly helps FDA identify seafood fraudsters

In October, environmental NGO Oceana released a letter signed by 500 chefs calling on the US government to fight seafood fraud by requiring more stringent seafood traceability.Momentum for action has been building on Capitol Hill recently, as groups such as Oceana and others release reports documenting rampant seafood fraud at restaurants and supermarkets across the United States.Two bills are floating around Congress now, both seeking to further regulate against seafood fraud.
