When it comes to global white-fish sourcing, buyers are enjoying the unprecedented luxury of having healthy wild and fanned fish optionsfrom which to choose. In fact, new estimates released in October at the annual Groundfish Forum in Germany (see charts above) point to another good year ahead for global groundfish supplies Attendees at the 21st annual Groundfish Forum heard wild whitefish harvests are expected to climb to just over 7.07 million metric tonsin 2013 from the 2012 harvest of 6.95 million metric tons. The Alaska pollock fishery - the largest single source of whitefish - is expected to hold steady at around 3.16 million metric tons. Pollock harvests have been rising steadily since 2010, when the global fishing fleet landed 2.53 million metric tons.
