Good-quality seed is the basic of anyagricultural production. This firstinput in the cropping process, bearinggenetic yield potential and other varietalscharacteristic, allows a homogenous andvigorous start for the plant growing. Infact, absence of quality seed makes thefarmer's investment and input such as fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation practically of no use. Thus, the entire economyof farmers is shattered. Seed quality is anessential tool for trade and usually subjectto bilateral and multilateral agreementsat local, regional and international levelsof the seed market.
