Twenty-five years ago, Stuart Padnos showed his wife, an artist, a bent piece of pipe from the family's scrap plant at Louis Padnos Iron & Metal Co. and asked what she thought about his turning it into something. "She said 'Great', and I created a flagpole," Padnos recalls. From that humble start, Padnos, the firm's senior executive vice president, discovered a new passion as a metal sculptor. Today, 25 years later, his beloved wife and artistic muse is gone, but the continues the creative expression in metal that she encouraged.
