Members enjoyed the drive to this scenic less-visited side of Loch Ryan, arriving to find bright, breezy conditions. Our enthusiastic host, Angus Carrick-Buchanan, first took us to his office to describe the history of his woodlands and his managementaspirations. Corsewall was originally part of the Earl of Galloway's Estate and was bought by Robert Carrick in 1815. Robert was a founder of the Ship Bank, which financed the lucrative tobacco trade between Glasgow and the American colonies. The estate was inherited by Robert's cousin James Carrick-Moore in 1821 and at that time consisted of over 6,000 acres across Galloway and Ayrshire.
