摘要

Novel topological investigation based on the Wiener index (W) indicated that ring size alone is not the proper parameter for the characterisation of crown compounds.In addition to ring-size,it is the extent of branching and volume-to-surface ratio which characterises crown compounds quantitatively.Such results are reported for the first time using thia-crown compounds as examples and show that topological indices such as W can be successfully used for the characterisation of crown compounds.
