Fall Carbon Fiber Conference held in Hamburg, Germany

The Global Outlook for Carbon Fiber 2004 was a very appropriate subject in mid-October, as the availability of this critical composites ingredient has become rather scarce. The all too familiar "feast or famine" situation has been a characteristic of the industry, perhaps contributing to the good attendance. Although technology was included, the emphasis was on business aspects of carbon fiber: market size and direction, cost, drivers, supply versus demand. etc. Virtually all market segments were addressed - along with some that don't exist (yet). The conference was organized by Scott Stephenson, VP at Intertech (USA), and venue was the Le Royal Meridien Hotel, located on Hamburg's picturesque Alster, a large lake within the city. The 3.5 day event began with a day of pre-conference seminars, dealing with resin infusion technologies and the tantalizing subject: "Will there be Enough Carbon Fiber?" Several other timely themes were broached - for example: China - great new market -or threat to the existing carbon fiber industry?
