BLS revision: Workplace deaths up - not down - in 2006

WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Labor Statistics on April 17 revised the number of fatal occupational injuries reported in 2006, adding 137 to the official count. The revised count of 5,840 fatalities is a 2 percent increase from 2005. The preliminary 2006 tally, released in August, reported 5,703 deaths - a decrease from the previous year.
