Changes to crops being grown in China,including an expansion in the sowing of genetically modified crops,will significantly impact demand for glyphosate in the country.China is now the largest exporter of glyphosate globally,with exports,which account for 80% of Chinese production,able to meet about 30% of global demand.During 2007,the price of glyphosate rose from RMB Yuan 30,000/tonne to over RMB Yuan 50,000/tonne.The price increase has prompted many Chinese firms to increase their glyphosate capacity.
