With the first Zoo Quest (1954) Sir David created a new style of natural-history television - blending live studio action, in which the youthful Attenborough introduced his animal co-stars, with location footage of the expedition on which they were caught. This was his vision: to look at animals and their behaviour, habitats and evolution holistically, not merely as individual exhibits. And it was just the beginning.
