The cleavage of the chloride bridge in the dimeric transition complexes [eta(3)-C3H5)Pd](2)(mu-Cl)(2,) [eta(6-)benzene)RuCl](2)(mu-Cl)(2,)[eta(6-)cymene)RuCl](2)(mu-Cl)(2,)[(C O)(3)RuCl](2)(mu-Cl)(2,) and [(CO)(2)Rh](2)(mu-Cl)(2) by heteroleptic LSnCl stannylene (L is a N, C, N-pincer ligand [2,6-(Me2NCH2)(2)C6H3]) resulted in the isolation of pd(II)-Sn-II, (RuII-SnII),and (RhI-SnII) complexes [pd(eta 3-C3H5)(LSnCl)Cl] (2), [Ru(eta(6)-benzene)(LSnCl)Cl-2] (3), [Ru(eta(6)-cymene)(LSnCl)Cl-2] (4), [Ru(CO)(3)(LSnCl)Cl-2] (5), and [Rh-(CO)(2)(LSnCl)Cl] (6), All compounds were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy, and the structures of compounds 2 and 4 were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The strucutre of a rare monomeric (RhII-SnII) complex. [Rh(LSnCl)(2)Cl-2] (7), the final decomposition product of (RhI-SnII) complex 6 is also reported.
