摘要

A wide genetic base with acceptable level of productivity is essential in the fast progressing population. Genetic variation in Basmati rice population can be created by induced mutations which can be exploited by selection and hybridization. The cultivars were grouped into 5 clusters; cluster I had highest genotypes of 9 followed by cluster II with 4 genotypes, cluster III had 2 genotypes whereas cluster IV and V had one genotype each. Genetic divergence was estimated through D2 analysis. The diversity among the cultivars measured by intercluster distance was adequate for improvement of Basmati rice by hybridization and selection. The cultivars included in the diverse clusters can be used as promising parents for hybridization programme for obtaining high heterotic response and better segregants in Basmati rice.
