Relative performance of different sources of phosphorus with green manure in rice-rice cropping sequence

Field experiments were conducted in Tamil Nadu, India, during the monsoon seasons of 1995 and 1996, to study the effect of different sources of P with green manure on the performance of irrigated rice (cv. ADT-36). Application of single superphosphate (SSP) along with green manure produced higher grain yield in both of the seasons. The residual effect of SSP and rock phosphate were comparable in increasing the grain yield when applied with green manure. Application of SSP plus green manure for boththe crops resulted in a higher P use efficiency and apparent phosphorus recovery.
