Raised bed planting system for increasing yield and nutrient content in rice over conventional system

The productivity of rice was found to be significantly higher in bed planting system (6.371 ha~(-1)) than in those under conventional system (5.43 t ha~(-1)). Significantly higher amount of important nutrients such as protein (8.81%), starch (21.94%),iron (22.50 mg 100g~(-1)) and calcium (10.90 mg 100g~(-1)) were observed. However, significantly lower amount of fat (0.44%) and sugar (3.22%) were noticed simultaneously. The study indicated the higher efficacy of bed planting system over conventionalsystem for rice cultivation, with respect to yield as well as important nutrients.
