In 2002, Tararua District Council (TDC) undertook an in-depth study on land use in the Tararua District.The aim of the study was to discover how best to use land, particularly those areas that remained under-utilised.Investing in such a significant research project was a huge undertaking but from it was produced a detailed database, relating to the agricultural profile of the region and its suitability for a range of crops and land uses.
