A chance conversation about rugby put a young American traveller in touch with a New Zealand company aiming to become a world leader in fruit sorting technology. And now James Flocchini, as marketing manager of Compac Sorting Equipment, is seeing therapid expansion of its exports back to his home country. "In the last several years Compac has had very strong growth. Ten years ago we only had a few machines offshore and 95 per cent ot our business was done domestically. But since the mid to late 1990's when we had major expansions into Europe and the United States, we now have machines in 18 different countries."
