New Zealand has good story in 'food miles' debate

"Food miles", the term challenging New Zealand horticulturalists, has become an issue in itself. At its best, it is a pair of generic buzzwords and at worst it disguises the diverse range of serious economic, environmental and ethical issues and impacts and overpowers in-depth debate on other important considerations. It must be said that food miles do have significant relevance for New Zealand's fruit exports due to the carbon emissions footprint attached to transporting our fruit to international markets.
