By using the electro-optic (EO) modulator, the stable operation of Nd:YVO4/Nd:YVO4/Nd:YVO4 1.06-mu m laser has been demonstrated. The characteristics such as the pulse width, single pulse energy, etc, have been measured for different Nd-doped concentration of gain mediums and different output couplers. The maximum average output power of 612 mW and the largest single pulse energy of 102 mu J are obtained by the composite Nd(0.1at%):YVO4/Nd(0.5at%):YVO4/Nd(1.0at%):YVO4 crystal at the incident pump power of 7.69W and the output transmission of 15%. The composite Nd(0.1 at%):YVO4/Nd(0.3 at%):YVO4/Nd(0.8 at%):YVO4 laser achieves the shortest pulse width of 6.5 ns at the output transmission of 6.5%. (C) 2015 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.
