Essential parameters for the simulation of contacts between pistons and cylinders of hydrostatic axial piston machines will be presented. Here they are stiffness and damping values. Parametric approximation equations summarize the results of the experimental research. Test stand research with model pistons and the analysis of the detected coherences are the basis for a new scientific knowledge about the dependence between measured values and the tested parameters. Simple equations offer the possibility to embed parameters in simulations. These parameters are computed on the basis of the measuring results.
