摘要

Unfilled polytetrafluor ethylene (PTFK) is distinguished in particular by possessing high chemical andthermic stability and by low frictional parameters. The mechanical characteristics of this white,unfilled PTFE basis material are matched to the various application requirements by blending indifferent filler materials. The composition alone does not however give any indication of the potentialinherent in the material. For it is not the filler alone which decides how successful the seal will be inpractical use. The manufacturing process, the care taken in the selection of the filler materials and theprocessing of the PTFE itself determine the microscopic structure of the material an thus decide whatpotential the sealing material will possess. This article provices a survey of the varoius PTFFmanufacturing processes and the most important PTFE sealing materials.
