EIA to Track Financial Factors More Closely

Responding to pressure from Congress to increase transparency in energy markets, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has launched an initiative to collect more market data and analyze market behavior more thoroughly.Richard Newell, the EIA's new administrator, said the agency will expand its analysis beyond supply and demand fundamentals to include financial factors such as speculative trading activity, hedging and foreign exchange rates.
