As most California onion growers know, white rot is becoming an ever-increasing problem—one that's apparently not going away by itself any time soon. Researchers have tried a number of approaches, including using bio-stimulants such as Diallyl disulfide (DADS) and other new chemicals that have recently come onto the market.But even with control rates of 95 to 98 percent, sclerotia is so damaging, that even a small amount can cause significant problems, including yield losses in the field. That's why most Allium growers would rather switch fields than deal with this pest.
