Onions left in the ground by some Treasure Valley farmers may pose a potential risk for disease this coming year, say researchers. Due to market woes, growers opted to let some onions sit rather than incur harvesting expenses and a low return. Mike Thornton, onion researcher with the University of Idaho Parma Research and Experiment Station, spoke to growers at the Idaho-Eastern Oregon Onion Growers 45~(th) Annual Meeting, held Feb. 1 in Ontario, Ore.
