Some Investment Banks See Triple-Digit Oil Prices in New Year

Investment banks' year-end commodity outlooks show the usual crude market bulls herding into triple-digit territory. Goldman Sachs leads the charge, forecasting WTI averaging $100 per barrel in 2011 and $110/bbl in 2012. Barclays Capital, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Societe Generale all see oil trading at $100/bbl at some point in 2011, although their forecast WTI averages are more restrained - respectively, $91, $87 and $92.50/bbl. All three, however, join Goldman in forecasting average 2012 prices at points within a $100- $110/bbl range.
