Shell Hopes Tullow French Guiana License Yields Another Jubilee

Spurred by a string of deepwater finds off West Africa, Royal Dutch Shell has snapped up as much as 45% of Tullow Oil's Guyane Maritime license off French Guiana, which lies on a similar geological trend on the other side of the Atlantic. Shell will initially farm in to a 33% stake in the 32,000 square kilometer Guyane Maritime permit, which lies around 150 kilometers off the northeastern coast of South America in 2,000-3,000 meters of water. Tullow will keep a 64.5% operated interest in the block, where it launched a 3,000 sq km 3-D seismic program in mid-September.
