Repsol YPF has sold a 3.3% stake in its Argentinean subsidiary YPF to a collection of private funds for $500 million, bringing the Spanish company's holding down to just under 80% as it continues to diversify its portfolio away from Argentina. An unspecified number of funds bought 1.63% of the Argentine producer and were advised in the transaction by US hedge fund Eton Park Capital Management, while another collection of funds bought the remaining 1.63% and were advised by fund managers Capital Guardian Trust and Capital International. Both sales were made at a price of $39 per share. In addition, Eton Park acquired warrants to buy an additional 1.63% of YPF at $43/share by January 2012.
