EOG, Newfield Terminate Marcellus Deal

EOG Resources and Newfield Exploration have terminated their previously announced $405 million Marcellus Shale gas acreage deal, in an unusual move that left investors and analysts guessing. Under the original deal announced in November, EOG agreed to sell 50,000 net acres in northeast Pennsylvania to Newfield in a move that was to have more than doubled its existing position in the Marcellus Shale.
