W&T Offshore Steps Up Onshore Drilling, Expects Acquisitions

W&T Offshore, which has traditionally focused on operations in the Gulf of Mexico, is doubling its planned exploration and production spending budget for 2011 as it seeks to drill more wells and step-up its onshore drilling activity. The Houston-based firm has set a capital spending budget of $310 million, up from $150 million in 2010. Both figures exclude any spending on acquisitions, a spokesperson told Oil Daily.
