Saudis try to stick with ambitious oil and gas plans despite low oil revenues

Saudi Arabia appears to be determined to push on with ambitious plans to develop oil and gas fields and large new downstream facilities despite the sharp fall in oil revenues that has accompanied this year's low crude prices. Projects the national oil company, Saudi Aramco, is proposing to proceed with include a number of schemes to maintain oil production capacity at 12.5 mn bpd along with the development of several new gas fields. On the downstream front, there are plans for a 400,000 bpd refinery-complex at Jazan along with several new petrochemical units at Rabigh and elsewhere.
