Studies were conducted to determine the nature of heterotic effects in different rice hybrids. The treatments comprised hybrids of the first and second generation, parental forms of 13 hybrid combinations and dihaploid lines produced with the use of anther cultures from the first generation hybrids. A backcross generation was also produced from the 13 hybrid combinations. The plant height, panicle length, number of spikelets and main panicle grain weight were determined. Results showed that segregation was observed in the in the first variant and there was no segregation in the backcross generation. In the hybrid combinations, the productivity of plants obtained as a result of backcrossing was higher than that of the initial hybrid. The productivity of the plants obtained by backcrossing was lower than that of the initial hybrid.
