CENTERRA GOLD BOOSTS OUTPUT AT KUMTOR 34 percent IN Q2

Centerra Gold Inc. boosted production at the Kumtor gold mine in Kyrgyzstan 34 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2008 to 111,164 ounces (3,457.6 kilograms), the Canadian company and the Kumtor Operating Company (KOC) said in a joint press release. Kumtor produced 185,894 ounces (5,781.95 kg) of gold since the start of the year. The companies said production had increased because higher-grade ore was mined and recovery rates had risen. The average grading was 3.41 grams per tonne for Au in the second quarter of 2008, up from 2.6 g/t in the same period of last year, and recoveries increased to 76.3 percent from 73 percent.
