Direct tracking control of output voltage is studied for multiple modular DC-DC boost power converters. Specifically, the case of two parallel boost converters driving independent loads but sharing a common source voltage that includes source resistance is studied. Operating point analyses show that there are two possible operating points for each power converter, both of which result in a nonminimum phase system. It was shown analytically why one operating; point is valid and the other is not. A sliding mode control design using the method of stable system center is developed and applied to the output voltage tracking problem. It is shown that the sliding mode control design provides decoupling and high fidelity tracking of arbitrary voltage reference profiles real time that are given by an exogenous system. A numerical example and simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the sliding mode tracking control. Future research suggestions are addressed.
