THE TILE: MAKING, DESIGNING AND USING/KENNETH CLARK

This is a book to inspire and inform on ceramic tiles and their applications on buildings and is illustrated with the most comprehensive and exciting range of ceramic tiling of the second half of the twentieth century that I have ever seen. Many new and little known examples are shown, from murals designed by Ivor Kamlish and produced by Carter Tiles in the 1950s and cladding tiles by Hans Coper in the 1960s, to large and contemporary murals employing computer technology from young makers: something for all tastes. One of my personal favourites is the tile mosaic made recently by An Clark for the fifteenth century St. Mary's Church at Ringmer, Sussex. It reminds me of a Fra Angelico painting.
