AGENCY CANCELS TENDER FOR KURGAN REGION URANIUM DEPOSIT

(Interfax) - Russian subsurface resources agency Rosnedra has canceled a tender for the exploration and mining rights to the Dobrovolnoye uranium deposit in the Kurgan region, the natural resources agency for the Urals Federal District told Interfax on March 15. The tender had to be canceled because there was only one bidder, namely the state nuclear fuel corporation TYEL. The tender results were supposed to be unveiled on March 15, but Rosnedra decided to cancel the tender on March 2. The fate of the deposit has not yet been decided. The starting price for the 20-year license would have been 4 million rubles.
