The Russian budget stands to receive 68.15 billion rubles in 2010-2012 from the megatonnes-to-megawatts deal with the United States, a note to the draft federal law on the 2010 budget and planned budgets for 2011-2012 says. Russia ships highly enriched uranium (HEU) removed from dismanded nuclear warheads to the United States in diluted form suitable for nuclear power pant fuel under the agreement, which expires in 2013. Payment for the shipments of 500 tonnes of weapons-graded uranium over the life of the contract has been based on the cost of enrichment and the price of the natural uranium used to dilute the HEU.
