EVRAZ BUYING 79 percent OF SOUTH AFRICA'S HIGHVELD FOR 678 MLN dollars

Evraz Group, Russia's largest steelmaker, reached an agreement 'with Anglo American to buy 79 percent of South Africa's Highveld Steel and Vanadium Corporation Limited, the world's largest vanadium producer, for 678 million dollars. The deal will be carried out in several steps. Evraz and its financial adviser Credit Suisse have each acquired 24.9 percent of Highveld. The steelmaker has options to acquire the bank's stake and Anglo American's remaining 29.2 percent stake in Highveld, which it intends to realize following regulatory approval for the deal.
