(Interfax) - Evraz Group has exercised an option to buy 24.9 percent of South Africa's Highveld Steel and Vanadium Corporation Limited from Credit Suisse for 219 million dollars, the group said in a statement on August 1. The deal is to be finalized by October 1. As a result, the Evraz stake in Highveld will increase to 79 percent. In July 2006, Evraz and Credit Suisse each acquired 24.9 percent of Highveld from Anglo American for 412 mil lion dollars. The Russian steelmaker also acquired the option to buy out Anglo American's remaining shares and the stake bought by the bank on condition that permission was received from the regulators.
