Rigid block design for solving the problem of extrusion of a porous blank

摘要

The problem of extrusion of a blank from a nondense material in the plane and the axisymmetric formulation is considered by means of a design consisting of rigid blocks. A model of a plastically compressed porous medium under the condition of cylinder-type yield and governing relations that are associated with the latter condition and that ensure independent mechanisms of shear and densification of the porous mass are used. By means of the data obtained it becomes possible to estimate the pressure and residual porosity over a sufficiently broad range of variation of the initial porosity (from moderate to low), the taper angle of die, and the coefficient of friction between the blank and the die. The proposed approach is simple to implement and, at the same time, possesses sufficient precision, thus confirming that the results of different authors are in satisfactory agreement.
