Using the relationΔh(R{sub}(m8)) (whereΔh is the measurement error in an ultrasonic thickness gage and R{sub}(mc) is the maximum depth of the roughness on the contact surface of the product) for regular surfaces with rectangular and triangulargrooves as an example, a study is made of the character of the change in the dependences of the parameters of the ultrasonic wave on the depth of the surface roughness when the roughness is characterized by the parameter R{sub}(ac) instead of theparameter R{sub}(mc) (where R{sub}(ac) is the average depth of the roughness on the contact surface of the product). RelationsΔh(R{sub}(ac)) are derived and experimentally verified.
