Calix[4]resorcinarenes Containing Acetal and Ammonium Fragments in the Molecule

Recently we have described synthesis of calix[4] resorcinarenes containing aminoacetal fragments on the upper molecule rim, which are promising initial materials for the synthesis of the sterically ordered structures of a new type [1]. Calixarene I was found to react with trifluoroacetic and perchloric acids in chloroform or in the aqueous-alcoholic medium to retain the acetal fragment and to form the corresponding ammonium derivatives IIa, IIb.
