Synthesis of 5-(Diethoxyphosphorylmethyl)furan-2-carboxylic Acid Derivatives Substituted in the 3 Position of the Furan Ring

A synthetic procedure wsa developed for 5-(dimethoxyphosphorylmethyl)furan-2-carbooxylate derivatives bearing acetoxymethyl,hydroxymethyl,and chloromethyl groups in the 3 position of the furan ring.Phosphorylation of the 3-chloromethyl derivative under conditions of the Arbuzov reaction gave methyl 3,5-bis(dimethoxyphosphorylmethyl)furan-2-carboxylate.
