Diazo Reactions with Unsaturated Compounds: V.~1 Reaction of Phenyl Vinyl Ether with Arenediazonium Chlorides

Phenyl Vinyl ehter reacts with arenediazonium chlorides in aaqueous acetone at pH 3-4 in the presence of a catalytic amount of copper(II) chloride to give arylacetaldehydes and small amounts 1-aryl-2-henoxyehtenes.No reaction occurs between teh same reactants in the presence of sulfur (IV) oxide.
