Making and drawing are two sides of the same coin. Both are fundamental to the creation of objects, and together constitute the foundations of creative practice - yet their role and relationship has so far received little attention. Making and Drawing, a new volume by Kyra Cane, is therefore a welcome addition. Cane is well equipped as an author here; the respected potter and former course leader of Harrow Ceramics has been teaching and practising making and drawing since 1986. The knowledge and connections she has developed have resulted in an attractive publication, whose lavish illustrations and profiles of makers from a range of disciplines provide invaluable insights into contemporary practice.
