Evolution of a Neck Profile in Automobile Body Sheet Steels with Various Stress Concentrators

A developed technique is used to plot strain maps from the displacements of some marked parts of an automobile body sheet steel sample in order to study the dependence of a neck profile on the type of stress concentrator and steel grade. The effect of the stress concentrator sharpness, the type of steel, and the sample thickness on the time of loss of a stable plastic flow and necking is analyzed.
